Our parents bought homes yet we can't rent rooms.
What is Swift Living?
We are focused on reducing the time and effort required to find a room or a new housemate.
Swift Living is the only platform where housemates comment and react to applications together. Living is communal. So is our site.
Swift Living is the only platform making the process of searching for a room less unpleasant:
- Free tools to make searching on other platforms easier (SwiftList, sharable profile with view tracking)
- You apply with a profile which saves you time.
- We show you where your applications are in the process so you don't feel like you are applying with no feedback.
- We are working on making it clear where you have the best and worst chances. If you are the 150th application your chances are low. If someone in the flat is a friend of a friend your chances are high.
Will we charge you? (TLDR: No)
Swift Living will not charge you to post rooms, to apply to rooms, or for tools on our platform that make either of those things easier.
For now we intend to make the best rental platform and like all good tech companies make money later (there is a plan).
Why?
Housing for young people is a problem that is only going to get worse.
The existing platforms are not trying to improve the experience for two main reasons. Either property managers are their customers so their incentive is not to help you. Or they have settled on maximising profits by minimising work on their platform and spamming you with ads and extra fees.
When you finally find a place to live, you and your housemates can pay 50,000CHF a year for worse customer service than you'd expect from a bad restaurant.
We are not the customers.
I started Swift Living because I want to fix housing for young people. Starting small with how we find rooms.
After that we can fix the rest.

NickI'm Nick. I've worked as a software engineer in Zurich since 2018 and moved 5 times. Before that I was an international student in the Netherlands and lived in London. My CV for experiencing the unpleasant realities of moving is strong.
